9 Date Ideas For The Holiday Season

Today I thought it would be cool to think of a list of some Christmas themed activities. And don’t worry it is centered around Australia and New Zealand’s summer weather so there will be no mention of snow or ice skating.

These activates and ideas can be done with your partner or friends and family, no one is left out this holiday season. So grab the people you care most about and try out some of these fun activities.

Christmas themed restaurants and cafes

A lot of restaurants and cafes are having fun and taking the opportunity to jump on events and holidays to showcase their food in different ways. Look out for your local food blogs on tiktok, Instagram and YouTube to see what Christmas themed food is out now.

Gingerbread house making

A snack activity is the best activity, get creative and create your own gingerbread house or build one together. You can try to challenge yourselves by using different combos of foods for decorations and see if it still comes out just as amazing.

Christmas light hunting

Walk around your neighbourhood or take a road trip and gaze at some beautiful set ups from the subtle decorations to the full-blown light show that some houses go to the trouble of setting up.

You can even go into the city or your local shopping centre to see the big Trees they put up every year. It’s a romantic way to spend your night and if you are walking around or driving it’s guaranteed to fill you with contagious comfy joy

Search up your areas Facebook groups as they will usually post certain streets that have the most spectacular light set ups.

Tree decorating

Spend an afternoon buying a Christmas tree or pulling out the old one from the garage. Decorating a tree together and then seeing the finished result can be so much fun.

Avoid stepping on the lights and tree decorations as that can be a fast way to either kill the fun or have your partner burst out laughing while you hop in pain.

Gift wrapping

Put on your favourite music get heaps of snacks and now you get to see what type of gift wrapper your partner is! A lot of couple dynamics usually have one person who is an expert perfectly neat with a bow wrapper and the other one’s skills slightly resemble a toddler sticking piles of paper together. Enjoy the laughter and comparison, you can even race each other to see who can wrap the fastest.

Christmas themed movie marathon

We all have a favourite Christmas movie or two. My favourites include Elf, The Polar express and the grinch. Compile both your favourite Christmas themed movies and snuggle up on the couch with a marathon and heaps of Christmas snacks like candy canes, chocolate etc.

Pet Christmas photo shoot

A lot of people create Christmas photo shoots with family visiting Santa or couples dressed in ugly sweaters. Let’s trash that this year and throw a Christmas themed photo shoot for your pets!

Cut out snowflake’s decorations

This one does involve scissors so please have fun but don’t go crazy. Enjoy making cool designs and decorating your home at the same time. See if you both can come up with similar creations or if they are completely opposite from one another, regardless it’s a craft filled activity you come together for.

Volunteer or Donate.

Take this opportunity to give back for those in need. The past 2 years have been very hard on a lot of people, and one of the bets ways you can give a little kindness is to volunteer or donate. You and your partner can find a charity of your choice and give back this season.
