How To Gain More Engagement With Instagram Stories

If you are looking to grow your profile, then you must make your goal and focus to be on engagement. The more interaction you gain on Instagram the better the engagement.

One easy way is to utilize the story feature on Instagram. Stories are a great way to stay in your audience’s mind even when you aren’t posting traditional photos or videos. An Instagram Story is a photo or video that disappears after 24 hours.

Consistency is a great way to keep up engagement so I suggest minimum 10 stories per week, and try to spread them out unless you are planning to post heaps of stories every day.

Now don’t worry! 10 may seem like a lot, but you don’t have to be posting photos of yourself for each story. Take photos and videos of your meals, your pet, the sky and literally anything you want but ensure you utilize Instagram’s stickers, polls and other features.

Here are some ways you can create more engagement with your stories.

Stickers

There are hundred of stickers to choose from so there is no excuse not to use them!

Polls

Polls is my favourite feature. It’s a fun way for your audience to interact with you. It can be fun and silly questions with a 2 answer option. Instagram will allow you to see who is voting for which answer and a percentage of which answer will get updated with every vote for your audience to see.

Questions and quizzes

The Question Sticker lets your followers answer a question you propose. It can help you gather some insights on what your audience wants or help you gain different perspectives on topics you are interested in. You can also add a bar feature to let your followers show how much they love the photo!

The Quiz feature lets you add a multiple-choice question so you can ask your followers fun questions and if the quiz is about you, this will let you see who pays attention.

Filters

Filters are not just for selfies, you can use them for any photo or form of story. After uploading your photo select filters and slap one on.

Music

You can use this feature to simply advertise your new favourite song or add a track to you that perfectly matches the vibe of the image you are sharing.

Tag locations

If you are taking a photo of a specific location, make sure you tag it in your story as well. If you want to ensure some security, then upload the story with the tagged location after you have left said location.

Hashtags and Tags

Just like locations add hashtags and tag people that are relevant to your post. Whether that’s the brand of clothing you are wearing or friends in the photo. If you don’t like the look of the hashtags, then simply hide them behind a photo and bam you now have secret hashtags.

Want your audience to visit a website or external location? Then make use of the link feature or swipe up sticker in your story.

If you would like to keep your stories for people to see after the 24 hours, you can display them on your Instagram profile with the use of highlights. With highlights you can put them together as a collection of Stories, you can group them into categories of themes like Food, summer, fashion etc.
