Hello everyone, I’m Mr. Frog HUBient Today I will be discussing some fun but not so fun facts of Esports in the ANZ region.
By definition, Esports refers to a multiplayer game played on a competitive level for spectators and professional gamers. Having said that, I bet that once I’ve mentioned E-sports, the first picture that came to your mind was not of ANZ origin. What I meant is that our region of Oceania lacks the endless opportunities that E-sports had to offer for many ambitious comp players out there.

I’m not saying that E-sports is non-existent in Australia, it does but is it readily accessible to all players who wants to participate in competitive gaming? ESL Australia has been an E-sports provider hosting comps and leagues since 2015 with a variety of games. Okay great, at least there is something at the tippidy top, but what about everywhere else in between?
The ANZ gaming scene lacks the extensive collection of E-sports or gaming communities that other regions have to brag about. I mean we are at a disadvantage with our population size however a community that brings players from all games, all levels of play and provide a tournament or competition for everyone to participate would be ideal as we continue deeper into the information era.

I may be asking for too much, but I personally missed the internet café vibes. Back in the days playing CS sources or CS 1.6 (back then) with some mates after school all in the same room, yelling shouting, bantering. Have that but engaging, competitive, supportive community would be the bomb.
Yes, before the comments floods in, there are ANZ communities that I have missed for sure. If only there were more exposure for these ambitious communities as personally, (yes, I live under a rock) I don’t know of many, apart from clans here and there in the games that I participate in.
What do you guys think of the E-sports community in the ANZ region? Are there a scarcity of them or do we need more? That’s it for my quick discussion of ANZ Esports as 2021 comes to a close. Hopefully we can get some discussion kick off from here, catch me on discord below! Don’t forget to follow all my social media as well as Hubient to stay up to date. Til next time, stay fresh!
