Hi beautiful people, my name is sky Bambie and I am apart of Hubient Talents.
Going to the gym for the first time can seem daunting, even to the most athletic person! But I promise once you rip off the sweaty buff band-aid, I promise the anxiety will ease with each visit.
Now if you will keep up the motivation to go consistently, well that’s another conversation.
First thing I recommend is to call to the somewhat trusted google. Narrow down to what your goal and targeted areas are that you want to focus on improving. Now Look up videos online for specific workout and practice in front of the mirror. My best advice is to start of with mat workouts and cardio before hitting the machines. Let yourself be a wallflower on your first visit to see the layout and how others are using them.

Want a boost of confidence? Bring a friend with you!
This way if you are really nervous or are worried about wondering around looking lost, you now have someone to lean on and distract you with conversation. Bonus points if they have already visited the gym before!

Bring the essentials with you.
Bring a towel, water and music. The towel and water are for obvious reasons but music will be that extra comfort to help get you pumped and calm the nerves.
Don’t push yourself beyond your limit
The gym is not a competition, and you are more likely going to hurt yourself and cut your gym visits shorter than planned. Go with what you are comfortable with and build up from there. If you haven’t worked out in a long time consider starting off small with just a 30-minute workout to allow yourself to become familiar with the layout of the gym and to help estimate if you are capable of working out longer next time.

Look for a free personal trainer session or gym class
This usually offered when signing up. Going in with a teacher to guide you will help cancel out the fear of using the equipment wrong or not holding your body the correct way.

Put away weights and equipment after use.
This is the number one gym etiquette rule to follow. Also don’t forgot to wipe down machines after use, especially during covid times, you will get stares of disappointment if you don’t.
Do not hog equipment when you are not using them
Even if you have a great full proof workout routine with fast paced switching between machines, you cannot call dibs if you are not physically on the equipment, and no, leaving your towel or belongings does not count.
