Hi beautiful people, my name is Sky Bambie and I am apart of Hubient Talents.
For a lot of people, starting your sustainable journey can be overwhelming with so many terms and information to keep track of, it can make you want to give up being a conscious consumer.
With a lot of ‘green labels’ not being regulated and they popularity with a lot of companies green washing their products to make more sales.
It’s important to be savvy with all the eco terms and why not start with the sustainable fashion terms!

Eco-fashion
Clothing and other goods that are produced by methods that are not harmful to the environment.
Ethical Fashion
Fashion that aims to reduce the negative impacts and treatment on people, animals and the planet. It focuses on social issues that cover working conditions, forced labour and health and safety.
Fast Fashion
Fashion that is mass-produced and cheaply made, usually consisting of trending aesthetics that are sold at a low competitive price.
Second Hand
With thrifting and apps like Depop taking off. The giving previously owned clothes ‘new life’ helps reduces the environmental impact of buying new clothes.
Slow Fashion
Slow Fashion is against excessive production and mindless consumption of fashion. It addresses slowing down fashion and increasing the longevity of clothing
Sustainable fashion
Producing clothes and accessories in environmentally sustainable manners and sustainable patterns of consumer consumption.
Vegan Fashion
Vegan fashion refers to a fashion item that contains no animal-derived materials. This should not be confused with Cruelty free fashion as some vegan products may still be tested on animals, so always check for both.

Some great fashion brands that participate in being environmentally conscious
- Patagonia
- Whimsy + Row
- Plant Faced Clothing
- Ninety Percent
- Tentree
- Mudjeans
- Elle Evans
- Sorella Organics
- Everlane
- Pact
- Amour Vert
- Reformation
I hope this helps you in your journey to becoming more of a conscious consumer. Next time you go to make a fashion purchase consider the origins of the piece, how it affects the environment and most importantly consider why you are buying it?
