Hi beautiful people! My name is Sky Bambie and I am apart of Hubient Talents. Flowers are a great way to freshen up your home, whilst I would always recommend opting for a pot plant the occasional bouquet of flowers doesn’t hurt to revive up your house or room.
Here are some tips for keeping your flowers fresher for longer.
Keep them in a cool location
A dry, darker shaded location is optimal for keeping your flowers healthier. Sunny and humid locations can cause your flowers to wilt.
Change the water daily
Or at least every 3 days to stop bacteria from growing and killing your flowers. Also keep your vase clean and scrub it out every time you change the water.

Trim the stems
Try trimming them before placing in water at a 45-degree angle to help absorb water. Trim half an inch off the stems every couple day.

Remove dead flowers
To prevent ethylene from the dead flowers affecting the others remove them as soon as you spot them. Fruit also can cause this, so keep your fruit bowls away! Remove the lower leaves when wilting as well.

Use warm water
For flowers use warm water as it is absorbed quicker, and only use hot water (up to 110 degrees Fahrenheit) to restore wilted dying flowers.

For events use Hairspray or Refrigerate
For next day events try opting for hairspray to keep ensure their current look stays. Spray the hairspray from a distance on the bottom of the flowers and leaves.
You can also try to refrigerate your flowers overnight to keep them cool and fresh, especially during the summer time.

Feed them flower food –
Most bouquets have a small sachet attached but if not here are some flower feed diy mixes with water-
- 2-3 tablespoons Apple cider vinegar (the best flower food)
- A copper Penny (for antibacterial properties)
- ¼ teaspoon Bleach (eliminates mold and bacteria)
- ¼ cup lemonade
- 1 Aspirin
- Sugar (but clean regularly as sugar can feed bacteria)
If you want to ensure the ultimate result, try to research the exact flowers needs and care. For example, roses should be cut while under water as they are more susceptible to bacteria.
