Wanting your perfume to last throughout the day is a given, why spend all that money for it to disappear straight after you head out the door? Now every perfume box or package will tell you to store the perfume in a cool place but lets delve in a bit more for some more tips on smelling amazing for longer.
Spray in the right places
People always talk about putting perfume in ‘pulse areas’ but what are they? Pulse areas are locations where your blood flow in your veins are close to the skin or as Wikipedia puts it ‘The pulse may be palpated in any place that allows an artery to be compressed near the surface of the body’
Here are the best pulse points for perfume
- Belly button
- Behind the ears
- Behind the knees
- Behind the elbows
Spray or comb perfume through your hair
Don’t go overboard with this method as the alcohol in perfume can dry your hair out. If you want spray some moisturising spray or oil into your hair before applying the perfume to keep it from drying.
Moisturise and shower
Take a shower then moisturise your skin to keep the scent alive for longer. Make sure to apply after the moisturiser has been absorbed into your skin. Do not rub the perfume into your skin after spraying as it can cause the scent to disappear faster.
Buy odorless deodorant
To prevent your deodorant from clashing with your perfume opt for an odorless option. This will not only prevent clashing but also stop you from sweating and having your body odour cancel out the perfume.
Don’t bathe in the perfume
You may love the idea of spraying yourself head to toe 100 times so you can walk into every room smelling like 1000 fields of flowers, but you may give everyone around you a headache. One to two sprays is enough, if you want spray once in your pulse areas to lock in the scent without it being overbearing.
