Hello Armies! This is Mr. Frog HUBient and today I will give you my first impression about a roguelike action-adventure game, brought to Nintendo Switch by a team of ex-BioShock developers. City of Brass
Your goal is to explore the cursed city, while collecting as many of the various treasures scattered throughout as you can. There are 15 levels total. Each level has its own goals. This is a nice variation on the roguelike format and provides unique experiences such as being dropped into an arena full of enemies.
City of Brass’s gameplay is similar to Skyrim’s first-person RPG. Your character will have a whip in one hand and a scimitar the other. These weapons have the ZL and ZR triggers, which are simple to remember and use. Although the scimitar can be used as an offensive weapon, the whip is versatile in that it can be used for multiple purposes. You can swing from the hooks to escape situations and stun your enemies by striking them from far away.
There are many traps throughout the game. These include spikes that rise from the floor and arrows that shoot out of walls. This requires a lot of skill and patience. Jumping is crucial in these trap avoidance and navigation. The tutorial gives you plenty of practice so you can adapt and improve.
City of Brass runs smoothly on both handheld and docked devices, with no noticeable FPS drops. Every level is accompanied with a different Arabian-themed music, which gives players a true sense of the game’s location. The game is visually stunning and offers an intriguing world of treasures and challenges. There are also a variety of levels. I was surprised by the ease of the City of Brass.
City of Brass could have been a truly extraordinary game, but it lacks a lot of gameplay options that makes it difficult and frustrating to play.
