Hello Armies! This is Mr. Frog HUBient again and today I will give you my first impression about an action-adventure video game developed by Canadian studio Thunder Lotus Games. Jotun: Valhalla Edition
The story centers on Thora, a recently deceased Viking woman. After suffering an untimely death, she must travel across all realms to defeat Jotunn, the giant elements of chaos, nature, and power. She will be able to impress the gods, and gain entry into Valhalla. She fights Odin, after defeating the lightning giant Hagalaz and the plant giant Jera. After proving herself to be a worthy fighter, she ascends to Valhalla.
Jotun creates his art in a frame-by-frame, hand-drawn style. Apart from boss battles, the game revolves around exploration and solving puzzles. There are also a few enemies that you must fight. Exploration involves exploring different stages with giants to defeat and puzzles to solve. Axe swings are often used to interact with objects (i.e. There are many types of puzzles that use axe swings to interact with objects (e.g., trees, vines, and boulders). Each stage has a Rune that the player must reach in order to continue the story. A God Shrine is where Thora can unlock and increase God Powers.
Secret locations contain Ithunn’s Apples that give Thora a permanent boost in health. The combat system in the game is quite basic, with the three main actions being axe swing, dodge, and axe chop. The game’s most powerful attack is the axe swing. It takes longer to execute, but does more damage than the axe chop. The axe chop, a light attack that does little damage, can be used in either a 2-hit combo or 3-hit combo. The dodge is a roll that players can use to avoid attacks. After the 2-hit combo, they can swing and dodge for a third strike. Frigg’s Healing and Freya’s Speed are also available. God Powers start with two charges. However, a limited number can be upgraded to three. All may be replenished at Mimir’s Wells.
Ginnungagap is the game’s central hub, from which players have five access points. Every area is made up of two stages. Jera has one stage. Thora must collect the runes on both stages before she can go to the boss battle, where she will face one of five giants. Thora, after defeating her boss, will give information about her past before she dies.
Jotun is an action-exploration and adventure game that’s hand-drawn. It’s based on Norse mythology. Jotun lets you play Thora, the Viking warrior who died an ignoble death and must prove herself before she can enter Valhalla.Find runes that will unleash the giant Norse elementals, the Jotun, in vast areas of Norse Purgatory. You will need only your two-handed axe and the blessings from the Gods to defeat them.
Jotun: Valhalla Edition features Valhalla Mode! This mode is the ultimate fight against the Jotun! This is a true challenge for anyone who wants to impress the Gods.
