Hello Armies! Welcome to DOTA 2 hero Spotlight and today we will feature one of the best heroes for snowballing a game of Dota 2. Pudge The Butcher.
Pudge is one of the most popular heroes. Pudge is the most popular hero in all metas when it comes to pubs. Pudge, despite being the Dota 2 hero with the highest skill limit, is selected in every MMR bracket. Pudge is one of the few heroes who can fit in almost any role except position 1. Pudge is often disliked by many because they feel the hero doesn’t deserve it. Pudge may not be the most useful hero in all situations, but it can make a big difference when used correctly. Pudge is a great way to gain MMR.
You can pick Pudge to play as a post 4 and your primary job is to gank enemy lanes. This hero is extremely strong from the beginning. People even buy Boots of Speed to try and kill their enemies with Rot. This tactic works well if Pudge is paired up with another hero who has stun. When you reach level 3, you will need a level 2 Meat Hook. This means that you can start ganking. Good hooks are usually successful in killing the fish, so it is important to be precise. You can increase your accuracy by purchasing a Smoke, and using it while you gank.

Pudge can be used as a support in position 4, but he is also able to work in other lanes. One of these lanes is in the middle. In OG DotA, Pudge was the preferred mid lane player even when playing pro games. Danil “Dendi” Ishutin used Pudge as a midlane player even in Dota 2. But people realized that it was just not worth the effort. You’ll be able to level faster if you choose Pudge as your mid laner. This will enable you to quickly reach level 6 and begin ganking the enemy teams. This may seem like a good idea on paper but you will be less effective than you think if you fail to win your lane.
Pudge is a strong 1v1 opponent, especially against melees. His low armor means that he cannot be used against ranged heroes who do a lot more physical damage. Templar Assassin is a great example of a hero many think Pudge counters. It is actually the reverse. TA can three-shot Pudge as long as she levels Meld. Shadow Fiend, Invoker and Shadow Fiend are two other matchups where Pudge isn’t very good. These heroes are capable of killing Pudge with their magic damage, even though he can use a hook to win the lane.
Although Pudge may not be the most powerful hero in the late game, he can still be quite effective in certain situations. If he can grab the carry, a good Meat Hook could make all the difference. Although the hero is not very strong, his unpredictable nature makes him dangerous. You can use Blink to instantly your ultimate if you are unable to hook someone. This will disable the enemy heroes and stop them from using spell abilities for at most a few seconds. Dismember gives Pudge and his teammates enough time to kill that particular hero.
