Hey what’s up, Armies! Mr Frog Hubient here back again with a Dota 2 character highlight. Today we will feature a hero that usually serves as a lane support/tank role in the team. His abilities allow him to harass enemies off the lane to secure space for his carry to farm. Undying
Undying serves as a lane tank and support role in the team. His ability to harass opponents off lane allows him to make sure he has enough space to carry to farm. Due to his ability to use decay and tombstone to make Undying shine, his enemy will either have to kill him or suffer debuff consequences.
Undying is a powerful harasser. He is a strong presence in team fights and aggressive in the beginning game. Because of his mediocre strength gain, and his poor agility gain, Undying is dependent on decay stacks and items for durability. For late game items, he needs to be able to farm. He does not require any hard disables and must be close to his enemies to participate in fights.
Flesh Golem and Tombstone can be used to slow enemies. Once they are stopped, spam Decay. Your lane partner will then take control. Soul Rip, on the other hand, can be used to end a hero when there are more creeps around: it does more damage.
Though his spells are individually quite cheap, you’ll almost always have mana problems since both Soul Rip and especially Decay are very spammable. Consider getting items to sustain mana such as Arcane boots. Another good item for Undying in the early game is Soul Ring. After using Soul Ring, you can use Decay for free. If you hit 2 or more heroes with this ability, you make up for the HP cost for Soul Ring.
In the current meta, Undying is definitely worth exploring. Undying is a great choice for the current meta, as he can shine in lane and transition to the midgame with his fight-ready cores.
