Hello, Armies. Mr. Frog Hubient again here with another Dota 2 hero spotlight. Today, we are going to feature one of Dota’s oldest heroes and has gone through several changes over the years. Bloodseeker!
Bloodseeker, one of Dota’s oldest heroes, has seen many changes throughout the years. He has not been favored in competitive play in recent months. This patch has opened up a new way to play Bloodseeker in the offlane. This article will provide a guideline on how to run this hero in offlane. It also explains why it is feasible. We also discuss what skill build you should use to resurrect an older hero that has lost its luster..
Bloodseeker’s strength in Offlane is due to his recent changes in 7.27c. In this version, his Blood Rite Damage increased and his healing from hunger also increased significantly. His increased Blood Rite damage gives him a very consistent strategy to survive in the offlane. He pushes lanes with Blood Rite often, and this is how he stays alive. Because safe lane carriers cannot handle the push Blood Rite offers early on, most must tank creeps underneath their tower. This allows your support plenty of time to pull, roam to the other lanes, set up vision, and so on. You can also keep pushing creeps and getting passive healing from Blood Rite by constantly killing them. You want to make the carry feel uncomfortable so that you can push the camp closest to the offlane tower tier 1 tower.
The Veil of Discord is the only core item that can be used to transition from mid game to late game. The Veil provides ample mana regen, armor and stats that help Bloodseeker, as well as increasing his pushing ability. It is snowballing your advantage and making room through ganking and Blood Rite, and continually shoving waves into the Veil active and Blood Rite. Most carries will lose if they fight a Bloodseeker with Veil or Rupture.

The game state Bloodseeker determines which items he can use. Bloodseeker has the option to buy several aura items depending on his situation, including Guardian Greaves, Pipe of Insight, and Vladimir’s Offering, if you have many melee cores. My favorite build is one that protects your safe-lane carry. You can also buy items such as Solar Crest and Lotus Orb to increase your win condition. If your team relies on you to catch and pick off mobile heroes, then consider getting an Aghanim’s Scepter.
Like any strategy, running Bloodseeker on the offlane has its flaws. These weaknesses include Strength carries that are able to hold their ground and fight through rupture. This is best demonstrated by Sven, Lifestealer and Wraith Kings. Bloodseeker’s strategy is completely countered by these three carries. The tower farming creeps Wraith King, Lifestealer and Lifestealer have passive lifesteal which virtually eliminates Bloodseeker’s lane pressure. Sven, on the other hand, hits harder and can clear waves as quickly with his Great Cleave. He is also a better late-game carry. According to the counter statistics, Lifestealer and Wraith King have a 3%, 1.39, and 0.5% advantage over Bloodseeker.
The lane pairings of the enemy side, which are able to kill the Bloodseeker constantly, is another problem that plagues Bloodseeker. Bloodseeker’s main problem is his need for a leader in the lane. Ogre Magi and Undying are aggressive supporters and can outtrade Bloodseeker with their sustain and all-in for constant kills. The game becomes more difficult to play once Bloodseeker is out of the game.
The hero Bloodseeker has made a niche for itself in the meta. Even though the strategy is not always successful, Bloodseeker’s sustain and wave push make him a good laner against traditional hard carries. He is flexible, and can build any utility the team requires. Although the build isn’t broken or unbalanced, I hope this article will help you find some spice in a meta that has been waiting for a patch.
