Hello, Armies! Welcome to another hero spotlight. And today, we are going to feature a hero called Deckard.
Deckard Cain, also known as the Last Horadrim can be described as a Healer Hero in the Diablo universe. As a scholar of a lifetime, Deckard Cain has dedicated his entire life to the research of knowledge. He’s served as an advisor, storyteller and a friend to Sanctuary’s most feared Heroes who have guided them through the dangers of life often. If Deckard is speaking, it’s a good idea to stay for a while and listen.
Deckard Cain or Cain The Elder is the return NPC from the previous Diablo games. He was the voice of the trailer of The Eternal Conflict event, and recorded voice overs for treasure goblins prior to the beginning of games that took place during the event.
Cain is the only remaining one of the founding Horadrim which is an old order of wizards tasked with capturing the Prime Evils in Soulstones and then guarding them and his father, Jered Cain, had been the leader of the group that chased and killed Diablo. Cain is a counselor and guide, who guides the character of the player through every stage of the game and supplies a lot of the mythology that can be found in the game.
Cain is in Tristram for the duration of the game’s first part, sitting near the fountain at the center of town. He shares his knowledge and can identify things for a fee. Then, in Diablo II, he is saved by the character of the player from a gibbet near the fountain. He then is with the player for the duration of the game, identifying things for the player. When playing Diablo III, he’s taken from the wreckage of Tristram’s Cathedral . Skeleton King Leoric who is reanimated with the help of his “fallen star” is sent by his soldiers to take him down. The main quests in Act I, Cain is mortally injured through the hands of the witch Maghda as well as her Dark Coven who are seeking for the “fallen star” (revealed as that of the archangel fallen Tyrael) as well as his broken sword, which is recovered through the playthrough. The final action of Cain before his death is to make use of his Horadric magic to re-shape the sword and then determine the origin of the sword as angelic. In the film that opens Act II, Cain is laid to rest on a pyre in the cemetery outside of the Cathedral.
Deckard is investigating Dragon Shire when the forces of the Raven Lord accuse him of keeping a girl away from them. The woman, Orphea, turns out to be a powerful magician of a kind. The two of them go towards the Court of Raena who is the Lady of Thorns and a powerful Realm Lord. In the court, they warn her about the Raven Lord’s plans for her domain and all of the Nexus.
She’s initially hesitant to take on the role because of her own struggles caused by a curse which has caused her husband’s death and is slowly affecting her. When Cain clarifies the fact that her family is at risk and she believes that the Raven Lord has already set his sights on a brand new realm that will give him greater power than she and her army, she mobilizes her troops and allies to protect King’s Crest and oppose the Raven Lord’s army in his plan to take over Alterac Pass.
Then in the evening, she, Lady of Thorns despite being severely wounded, confronts The Raven Lord and opens a portal and pleads Deckard Cain to bring her people back to the safety of. Raena is then afflicted by her curse and is transformed into stone.
Deckard is an explosive Healer who excels at preparing the battlefield prior to fighting and is capable of destroying enemies through crowd control. Deckard’s sole healing ability, Healing Potion, has an extremely high rate of healing over time and the unique capability to be utilized “on on the ground” so that allies can heal at their own pace. Being able to create multiple Healing Potions ahead of time is vital for Deckard’s ability to deal with damage from bursts.
