Hello Armies, Welcome to another spotlight. And today we are going to feature one of the best heroes in the game called Fenix. .
Fenix, Steward of the Templar is an Assassin Ranged Hero of the Starcraft universe. As one of the most renowned heroes of Protoss in the past, Fenix’s actions in battle are famous. After being trampled by the Zerg in the battle for Aiur the body of his victim was retrieved and re-integrated into a dragoon, so that the battle could continue. Even death cannot keep Fenix from winning glory and bravery.
Fenix is a durable damage Assassin with an regenerating Shield that allows him to effectively fight his adversaries. Fenix was previously a protoss zealot and also a praetor in the Protoss Defense Forces. He led his warriors in combat against those who considered themselves opponents from The Protoss Empire. Admired by his fellow warriors, He was called”the Steward” by the Templar and is considered to be among the top admired heroes of protoss history.
In The Great War, Fenix fought for the protoss against the threat of the Zerg. In his homeworld of Aiur Fenix, he joined forces with Artanis for the purpose of stopping the incursion of the Overmind and the zerg attacked Fenix during the defense against the capital city Antioch. He was fatally injured, and was believed to be dead. But his body was retrieved and placed in the frame of a dragoon. The shamed Tassadar was returned in Aiur and was declared to be an Heretic in the government’s protoss of the Conclave for his ties with Zeratul, the Dark Templar Zeratul. Even though he was condemned for this, Fenix allied with Tassadar and even fought his own people to rescue Tassadar. As the fire raged in Khor-shakal shattered, Tassadar was forced to surrender to stop the battle, however Fenix saw Tassadar as their last chance for victory over the zergs, fought along with the Terran Jim Raynor and Artanis, liberating Tassadar. Allies came together and smashed down the Overmind, breaking up their way through the Zerg Swarm.
But, Aiur was ravaged, and when the protoss departed from the world, Fenix and Raynor stayed behind to help ensure the exit. To stop the Zerg following after the protoss Fenix along with Raynor eliminated the Warp Gate that the protoss was employing on Aiur side, leaving them with the Zerg. But, they soon were approached via Sarah Kerrigan, who warned them of a new Overmind developing on Char, the planet Char and of the invading of the Terran United Earth Directorate. Fenix was a part of Kerrigan to defeat the UED and to help save Terran Dominion Emperor Arcturus Mengsk from their army. The band of warriors fought Kerrigan’s United Earth Directorate stronghold and Mengsk’s old capital city of Korhal and drove them off the planet. However, as they fought back, Kerrigan betrayed her allies and attacked Fenix and his army. In the final battle, Fenix was slain under the waters of the zerg.
The legacy left by Fenix would last for even after his death and his demise would be an inspiration for many protoss as well as for Raynor in the years to be. Brain Scans of Fenix could later be utilized to construct a robotic Purifier device, which would later be named Talandar.
The designers at Blizzard had planned to design Fenix (rather rather than artanis) to be the initial StarCraft warrior, however they believed it was important to show his transition between Zealot to Dragoon and did not want to introduce a second hero with a resurrected mechanic just a bit after Leoric
