Hello, Armies! Welcome to another heroes of the storm spotlight. And today, we are going to feature a melee assassin hero from the warcraft universe. Maiev!
Maiev Shadowsong is a night Warden of the Elf and an ex-priestess of Elune. Together and her older sister Jarod Shadowsong Maiev had a major part in the fight with the Burning Legion during the War of the Ancients. Following the battle, Maiev asked to be named the jailer of Illidan Stormrage. She then assumed the role of the leader for the Watchers. Maiev Shadowsong remained in watch over the Betrayer who was imprisoned for a period of ten thousand years and pursued him relentlessly following the release. When Illidan became the ruler of Outland, Maiev was imprisoned at the Warden’s Cage of Shadowmoon Valley, where Akama and his Ashtongue Deathsworn were her jailers.
Maiev was a part of Akama and sneaked into The Black Temple during an attack and joined Akama as well as the adventurers with whom he had gathered to fight Illidan. Motivated by the need for revenge, Maiev struck the final attack that killed the Betrayer; however, instead of revealing the victory she turned into an unrecognizable self, acknowledging that, with the death of Illidan and her life in disarray, she was nothing. In a state of complete madness, Maiev is now a vigilante who will kill anyone she believes has committed a wrong, which includes Archdruid Malfurion Stormrage, and the High-Priestess Tyrande Whisperwind. Maiev is an Assassin of Melee, who is skilled at deflecting her enemies’ attacks, and also keeping them out.

Maiev was first introduced with Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne (July 2003). Maiev has been listed as a potential hero in Heroes of the Storm since the year 2011. In January of 2018 Maiev was revealed by the Heroes of the Storm official Twitter page twice prior to the third tweet on the 25th was the first to reveal her. Her ability, Vault of the Wardens, refers to the Warden’s prison where the major threats are locked in a sealed area with magic Wards.
Maiev’s level 1 Talent , Naisha’s Memento refers to Naisha who was the Warden’s lieutenant who was killed in the battle of Illidan Stormrage inside the Tomb of Sargeras in the Warcraft III campaign. Maiev’s level 20 talents are an ode of Gul’dan’s Shadow Orb. It was a broken artifact which a player could put back together after finding fragments of it inside the Tomb of Sargeras during the Warcraft III campaign.
One of Maiev’s gag quotations is a reference to owls that deliver notes and letters from The Harry Potter series of books and films (June 1997). One of Maiev’s animations that is highlighted in her introduction video seems to be in the style of dance “buugeng”.
Well, that’s it for Maiev. What can you say about this hero? Is this a reliable hero to play in a rank game? Thank you again, Armies and see you in the next hero spotlight.
