What’s up, Armies! Mr. Frog Hubient here and I’m back with another Dota 2 Hero Spotlight. Today we’re going to feature a versatile hero who specializes in absorbing damage and shielding his teammates. Abaddon
The Font of Avernus, which is a crack in the primal stones that releases vapors of prophetic powers for generations, is the source of strength and vitality. The black mist is a baptism that gives each newborn of the cavernous House Avernus an inborn connection to the magical energies of the land. Although they are raised to believe that they are fierce protectors of their lineal traditions and the customs of this realm, what they actually protect is the Font. The motives behind the mist’s actions are not clear.
They say that something went wrong when the infant Abaddon was bathed at the Font. The child’s eyes lit up with a sense of understanding that captivated everyone and sent the sacerdotes into a frenzy. As a child, he was expected to follow the same path as all the scions of Avernus: to train in war so that he could lead the family’s army when needed. Abaddon, however, was a different kind of person. He meditated in the mist, while others trained with weapons. He took in the vapors from the Font and learned to combine his spirit with the potency from below the House. He became a creature of black mist. The bitterness he felt within the House Avernus was evident. Young and old alike accused him of not fulfilling his responsibilities. All such accusations were stopped when Abaddon rode into combat, and they realized that the powers of the Mist had granted him control over life and death like no other House lord.
Abaddon is well-known for his multipurpose spells that allow him to manipulate the damage an enemy can do to his team and turn it against them. Abaddon’s multipurpose spells allow him to heal and protect his teammates as well as deal damage to enemies. Abaddon can be used as a support or durable depending on the needs of his team. Abaddon can use his skill to protect teammates and shield them from harm or to increase his damage output. Abaddon should create aura items to help his allies as he can live longer during fights with Aphotic Shield or Borrowed Time.
Abaddon casts animations for Mist Coil, Aphotic Shield and other spells. Abaddon will not be able to cast his spells on time if he doesn’t plan ahead and position himself well. Poor agility was one of Abaddon’s first weaknesses. This led to low base armor and slow attack speeds. It is important to correct his armor weaknesses in order for him to be effective in any role. However, he can improve his attack speed depending on whether he is playing as an attacker. Abaddon’s vast survival skills make him a good safe lane support. As a melee hero, his role is to maintain lane equilibrium and pull creep waves. He stacks jungle camp for his carry to farm later and acts as a babysitter, capable of protecting his lanes against enemy aggression using his powerful survivability spells. He acts as a support and builds mana items, HP regen items, utility items, and spellcasting items. His skill build is geared towards maximising Aphotic Shield or Mist Coil in order to maximize his nuking power and protect his teammates. Abaddon, a durable, is geared towards tankiness and possibly damage output. This forces the enemy to view him as a threat in order to take advantage of his ultimate. Aphotic Shield still causes damage, but he forces the enemy into engaging him and wasting their nukes on him. Borrowed Time negates that damage.
So, that’s it for our Dota 2 Hero Spotlight. Would you rather use this hero in a rank game? Were there any important points we missed? Please leave a comment. Join our discord channel so we can play together at discord.gg/hubient. Thank you, Armies and catch you to the next one.
